Fyne Pioneer, Loch Fyne

Site Name: JP Wall - Sound of Mull

Dive Site Info

Known as the 'JP Wall' due to the wreck of the John Preston which lies near the wall, this wall is very beautiful with very diverse life. The dramatic underwater cliff extends from 18 - 65 metres so divers can pick their depth. Overhangs on the wall create different environments allowing a greater variety of life and the strong currents down the Sound bring in a lot of nutrients allowing filter feeders such as peacock worms and plumose anemones to thrive. The wreck itself lies on the wall at 14-18m.

When to dive

Best dived at slack water. The site is generally sheltered from the worst of the currents but is subject to tidal flows. Should be avoided in strong winds from SE-W directions.
